Brief

Cambodia has an area of 181,035 square kilometers and a population of over 14 million. Agriculture is the most important sector to its economy, with rice being the principal crop. Other important sectors are construction, textiles and garments and tourism.

The protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Cambodia is based on the Law Concerning Marks, Trade Names and Acts of Unfair Competition, which is TRIPS-compliant and sets out penalties for IPR violations including jail sentences and fines for counterfeiting registered trade marks. Cambodia IP enforcement system is a coordinated structure of different departments dealing with infringement and IP dispute.
